Life certainly has its ups and downs and I am a firm believer in getting the support that best suits you. Just like getting enough exercise; eating a balanced diet; or going to the doctor when you’re not feeling well, participating in therapy is, yet another way we can take care of ourselves. Therapy is for anyone who would like to feel better, experience more fulfillment, have more clarity, overcome obstacles, and grow stronger & wiser.

I believe we can all benefit from taking the time to better ourselves, yet this process is different for each client. For some clients it might mean putting proven strategies in place to accomplish a new personal or professional goal. For others it might look like healing past traumas in order to move past what is holding them back. Still others benefit from learning effective skills to help them move through a current challenge.

When working with younger clients I incorporate engaging, playful activities to help them learn about regulating emotions; increasing coping skills; and having healthy relationships with themselves and others. I believe these skills are critical to future resilience and happiness. My parent coaching focuses on enhancing the parent-child relationship. This is achieved through a combination of attuned parenting techniques; proven strategies that work in tandem with a child’s developing brain; and practices that promote healthy social-emotional skills.

Whatever your vision is, our work together will help you create a more satisfying, fulfilling life where you can be your best self. I love what I do and am committed to providing you with a safe, nonjudgmental, and nurturing space to discover what you are seeking.

Testimonials

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT MIA

Mommy Matters gave me a community during a time I felt very isolated. The women I met here were going through, or had gone through, many of the same challenges I was currently facing. I felt very supported. It’s no surprise that mothers continue to attend Mommy Matters long after the diaper stage has passed!

Mommy Matters Attendee

I began working with Mia when I realized that my father was entering the last stages of Alzheimer's disease. I had already tragically lost my younger brother and my mother at times in my life when I was not able to adequately process those losses. The thought of preparing for my father's death was overwhelming. Mia suggested EMDR Therapy. EMDR helped me deal with my past traumatic memories so I was fully prepared when my father passed. Mia is very professional, competent, wonderfully warm, and kind. She helped me gain my happiness back! I no longer suffer the pain and trauma of those losses when I remember my loved ones.

Adult EMDR Client

Mia Wilson is amazing! She is extremely helpful, hospitable, and knowledgeable. She is an amazing listener and never judgmental. One of my favorite attributes about her is you may be taking about a topic with her earlier in the day and hours later she will send several articles pertaining to what you were chatting about. You couldn't ask for a more caring professional. She is easy to talk to, and makes you feel immediately comfortable. Mia has an incredible ease to her.

Mia was exactly the person we needed in our 8-year-old son's life. She is caring and he relates to her easily. Her practices are based a lot on mindfulness and having an awareness of oneself. She gives us strategies that are easy to implement and effective for our son and the whole family.

Mother of an 8 Year Old Boy

Our son LOVES Mia, she has helped him understand the scientific background of how his brain works, what he can do to change how his brain works through simple and continued exercises, and how he can let his best shine through! Mia also gave our family a framework of strategies to help us as parents have less stress, but at the same time letting us know what we could improve on to support our son.
